Best of 2016

Hello world! It has been a while hasn’t it since I have blogged and I have no excuses except that my poor time-managment has left me with things piling up on me. Not a fun feeling. however, I really wanted to share a few of my favourite beauty products of 2016 with you guys. Please let me know what you think of it!

Neutrogena Deep Clean Oil to Foam Cleanser (original)

I have been using this cleanser for a good 4 months (around), it is my go to cleanser because of how moist my skin feels after using it. As I wear BB cream and waterproof mascara daily, I really wanted a cleanser that could both cleanse and remove my makeup easily. This did just the trick! You can apply the cleanser on dry skin and massage off the makeup or you could use it as a regular cleanser and with the bubbles formed, massage the makeup off, either way my skin is moist and clean after using it. Highly recommend!

Cliv Tomato Calluss and Vita C Mask

Believe me when I say, I have tried many types of sheet masks, however, I have found that this is the mask that I have found to be ultra hydrating, instantly brightening and soothing on the skin. Whenever I get the chance, or whenever I think my skin needs a pick me up, it is my ultimate go to mask. Use it at night before bed, remove the mask and see how bright your skin gets… wake up and your skin is dewy and bright!

St. Ives Apricot scrub

This year I have been through about 2 or 3 of these scrubs, not only do I use this on my face but on areas of my body where I think it needs a little more TLC. It is definitely one of the scrubs that offers a deeper exfoliation, smoothing out any imperfections, so once or twice a week is more than enough!

The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Mask

The most soothing, hydrating, rich (but non-sticky) sleeping mask I have ever used. Everyone I have recommended it to has fallen in love with it. Leave it on at night and wake up with supple and plump skin. One word… amazing.

Soapberry Fo-Ti Shampoo

The ultimate natural remedy to detoxing your scalp, my hair always feels refreshed after using it and if you get hormonal dandruff or the occasional dandruff, this would be ideal for you!

Borghese Green Clay Mask

An amazing product for detoxing the skin, it strips away the dirt and impurities without stripping away your natural oils. Easily accessible and really effective on the skin, a must try for mask lovers!

Crest 3D White brilliance toothpaste (Any drugstore- mannings)

Having discovered this hidden diamond late last year I have been religiously using it daily and have found my teeth whiter that it has ever been! And before you cringe about the possibility of having sensitive teeth… I didn’t have any sensitivity on my teeth at all (this might differ from person to person so bear this in mind.)

More on this product here.

The Line 3D & 4D Mascara by Missha

Having previously loved the Benefit tinted eyelash mascara and the Revlon Dramatic definition, I decided to try something new for a change. The cute designs drew me and the affordable price (HKD $45) and after trying the 3D and 4D mascara I was hooked. Since then, I have purchased two more. They give you effortlessly natural lashes and holds the lashes fairly well.

Shiseido Future solution LX eye contour

This is by far the creamiest eye cream I have ever used, its rich, instantly brightens your under-eyes and plumping. What more could you want!

October Beauty Favourites

Screen Shot 2016-10-30 at 15.48.29.png

It is the end of the month, so that means it’s time for a monthly favourites.

The first product I have been using a lot this month, is the Bourjois  Happy Light concealer. I can officially say that this is one of my favourite concealers of all time. I have been using this concealer for a while now, but I reintroduced it into my everyday product list this month. This concealer, is super creamy, but also very pigmented. I love that a little goes a long way, but the product itself does not leave you skin looking cakey. Also, this product is perfect to put in your bag, because of its compact size and the mirror inside, which makes it a lot easier for touch ups.

I have also been loving the L’oreal Elseve Extraordinary Oil High Shine Hairpack. This is a product I recently picked up, because I ran out of one of my hair masks, which you will see later in an empties post. I find this product, to be super hydrating and rich, which I didn’t expect. I also love the scent of this, even though I’m not the biggest fan of rose scents; I find it quite pleasurable. Plus, on busy days this is perfect, as you only need to leave it on for a minute, and it makes a huge difference to my hair.

The next product, I have to talk about is The Body Shop Mineral & Ginger Warming Massage Clay Mask. This is another product for those busy days, where you want pamper your skin, but you don’t have a lot time. I have talked about this product a lot, so I won’t go on about this too much. I love that this product warms up and really cleans the skin, leaving my skin feeling a lot cleaner and smoother.

Moving on, I have another haircare favourite this month and that is the Aromatherapy Keratin Hair Mask. Firstly, I love the scent of this and yes, it does linger. I can’t quite describe it, but it is very pleasant. Plus, it’s super creamy and hydrating. Also, this mask only requires 3-5 minutes to leave your hair nice and replenished, but when I want to give my hair some extra pampering, I leave it on for another 40-50 minutes, and my hair feels like it was freshly cut, soft and free from any dryness.

The last product is the Milatte Fashiony Gold Hydrogel Eye Patch. I have definitely been lacking sleep this month, and in result my eyes are suffering the consequences of it, and I find that an eye cream is just not enough. So, I have been opting for these eye patches, and I have definitely seen a change. Although, I would say that this product doesn’t help with dark under eye circles, I find that it helps a lot with fine lines (that tend to appear when I lack sleep), reduces puffiness and also rehydrates my tired undereyes.

So, those were my favourites this month and I hope you enjoyed it, and found some new and interesting products to try!

The three best 3 in 1 products

Screen Shot 2016-08-13 at 11.16.43.png

Personally, I love a product that provides you with three different services. It just makes the product more worth buying. And after searching for quite some time I found 3 of my favourite 3 in 1 products. So here they are…

The first one is the Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1. This was the first 3 in 1 product that I have ever tried and it didn’t disappoint at all. I ended up repurchasing it multiple times. I find that some of these types of products end up falling into one category instead of all three, because the multiple function doesn’t seem to have the same effectiveness, so I tend to use it as one, than all three. However, this is an exception and I end up using it as all three. The product helps to exfoliate, purify and minimize pores, as it claims, and I find that it isn’t too harsh or abrasive on the skin. Plus, it’s super inexpensive. So, it is definitely worth checking out. Although, I will say that this product tends to be on the drier side, as it does have the consistency of a clay mask. So, remember to moisturise afterwards.

A newer discovery has been The Skin System 3 in 1 product. After a couple of uses, I have to give high ratings. I really like how this product has tea tree in it. So, it is perfect when you skin is feeling a little spotty. Although, it does have tea tree and salicylic acid in it, I don’t feel like it leaves my skin overly dry. One thing that I really like about this product, is the granules in it. It’s similar to the Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1, in terms of the effectiveness while exfoliating. As it isn’t too abrasive, but gives that right amount of exfoliation, where my skin feels a lot smoother and cleaner.

My last favourite would be the formula 10.0.6 Three times sublime 3 in 1 blackhead. Again, as a exfoliator it ticks off my checklist of a good exfoliater, much like the others, but as  a mask, it is even more amazing. The mask really helps to clear the dirt out of my skin, while not over drying it out. However, I do need to use a thicker moisturiser after using this, which is understandable, because it is a clay mask. Also, sit is definitely one of the thicker mask, so a little goes a long way, if you want to apply just a thin layer. And overall, it smells great. Although, I will say that the mask doesn’t leave my nose blackhead free, which is disappointing, but I do like it as a mask and an exfoliator as a way to tighten pore and clear the majority of the dirt out of my skin.

I hope that this post has helped to find some new products to try!

June 2016 Favourites + summer essentials

Screen Shot 2016-07-01 at 1.04.09 am.png

It’s that time again for June favourites. There have been quite a few products that I really stood out to me and I have found my self reaching for them quite frequently. I think that a lot of the time there is a lot of emphasis on caring for your skin in the winter but the only ever skincare product that is most prominently used in summer, is sunscreen. Sure, sunscreen is a key product but caring for the skin after it has been in the harsh sun is super important as well.

St. Ives Even and Bright Scrub

St.Ives scrubs are my absolute favourite scrubs to use I have found them to be key in a deep exfoliation and with their new release of the pink lemon and mandarin orange scrub I had to high hopes.

The scrub is very light and I would compare the exfoliation to be similar to the Laura Mercier face polish and the Murad AHA/BHA scrub. The exfoliating beads are fine but fine enough to get in the curves of your face. Plus the pink lemonade scent is amazing in the morning.

I always find that after using it, my skin is brighter and more refined.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing oil to foam

This is also another new discovery for me. The cleanser is a 2 in 1 formula, the product without added water acts as a cleansing oil which works wonders on removing makeup. When water is added to the product, the cleansing oil when rubbed together in your hands/face starts to foam up providing a deep clean.

The scent itself is one of my favourites, a light fruity and floral scent. At first I was worried about the cleanser leaving my skin”squeaky” clean but it doesn’t at all! It leaves your skin feeling super hydrated, refreshed, supple and clean all at the same time. I highly recommend you give it a try.

Pantene BB creme

The Pantene is a oldie but a goodie. I have been using this product on and off for 2 years now after discovering its 7 in 1 properties, how amazing it both smells and leaves my hair feeling.

The “BB creme” has a light creamy consistency which is amazing on both dry and wet hair. I personally find that my hair absorbs the product better when it is damp as it acts as a leave in conditioner. It is amazing for smoothing over dry ends!

Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel

I personally really hate the feeling of applying moisturizer during the summer when it feels super sticky in the humid and hot weather. The rich butter/lotions seem unnecessary.

Lately, I have been loving using gels instead especially this on from Nature republic which only costed around HKD$29! You would think that applying a gel would also be sticky but the gel has a cooling and refreshing (after sun) feeling when applied to the skin. The skin just drinks up the gel leaving your legs and arms looking smooth and shiny (and non-sticky).

Laneige Water Sleeping pack

It might seem to be counter-acting what I said about the sticky feeling you get from rich moisturisers. However, in the summer, especially here in Hong Kong, the aircons are usually on full blast in shopping malls or even while we sleep. I have often found my skin feeling super dry upon waking up.

I have personally been using sleeping masks to act as a barrier to hydrate my skin from the drying air conditioner. The Laniege water sleeping pack has a gel/jelly like consistency which melts on the skin. I like to slather a pea size amount onto my skin (enough to cover it in a light layer). Whereas in the winter I like to be fairly generous and apply a thick layer. It has a soothing and deeply hydrating feeling that feels amazing after a day in the sun.

A black shoulder purse

This is a staple in my closet during the summer.  I like to carry around as little as possible as if you ask anyone in my family or friends… I have a tendency to overpack or carry unnecessary items.

It goes with almost any outfit and fits everything you need… emphasis on need. If you shop around Primark you are sure to fund a variety of these small bags that are super affordable.
