Spring Wishlist

Spring is in full swing and before long summer will be here. Sooo we decided to collaborate on a this post and create our spring fashion accessory wishlists full of things that we both need (or want ;p) in our spring wardrobes. We came across a site called “Spring” which basically is a virtual mall, with loads of brands and products all available on one site. We decided to break down our wishlists into two, one by “the foodie” and the other “the hipster” to bring you our favourite fashion accessories for the spring!

Empties | May

unnamed.jpg

I finally finished some products. So, I thought I would give these products a proper review. It’s taken me a while to get through them, but I can finally give a full review. Here it is…unnamed-1.jpg

The Garnier Aqua Defense moisturiser was an incredible daily moisturiser, it was really light and smooth on the skin, while still being super hydrating. From my experience the product absorbs into the skin super quickly, which is perfect for the mornings, because you don’t have to wait for the product to absorb into the skin, before applying on other products. My skin feels a lot softer after using this moisturiser. I also liked how it had SPF in it, which I haven’t seen in a lot of moisturisers, plus the scent is really refreshing and not overwhelming. Even though, the size of the product is on the smaller size, it lasted me for a long period of time. Honestly, I would like to pick this up again, because it was an amazing product.

On a less satisfied note, Prestena honey pack  was not a favourite of mine. I felt like the product was way to sticky for my liking and I thought the stickiness would leave the skin, but after a while. However, my skin still felt super sticky even if I used a tiny amount. The product itself is clear, with a yellow/orange tint to it, with a pleasant smell to it. However, the packaging itself was difficult to open.

unnamed-2.jpg

Onto the fragrances, I loved the Yves Rocher Deodrant, it did keep me smelling great all day, plus the product doesn’t have any parabens, aluminium and all the nasty chemicals. I really like this product, however the scent was great for a while, but I ended up not liking the scent that much, maybe I just got bored of the scent. So, I picked up another scent and hopefully it is just as good.

The perfume I used up was the Fabio Verso Ocean Fun, which is one of my all time favourite scents, it basically smells like passion fruit. It wasn’t to overwhelming in terms scent which is perfect for me, and the scent lasted for such a long time. I need to pick up a new one of these. I’m hoping they still sell it.

unnamed-3.jpg

This took me a while to finished, but I finally did. It is The Body Shop’s Jolly Orange hand cream. Which I believe they don’t sell anymore, sadly. I actually really enjoyed this hand cream, it was super moisturising and rich, which is why it lasted me for such a long period of time, because a little went a long way. You would think that orange wouldn’t be a wintery, festive scent, but it really is. The scent was warm instead of spring or summer like. Which made this hand cream so enjoyable. I definitely recommend The Body Shop’s hand creams.

So, those were my empties. Hopefully, I gave you enough insight on the products. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with all of the products, which is great!

Origins: Masks

vsco-photo-5.jpg

I’m a big fan of Origins as a company, they make some incredible skincare products, and I’ve always been interested in their masks. One of my favourite mask from Origins is the ‘Out of trouble’ Mask. Which does wonders on the skin, but I wanted to try their other masks, to see if they are just as good as the ‘Out of trouble’ mask.

vsco-photo-4.jpgIt has been a while since I’ve picked up this set of masks, but I thought it would be best if I gave them a try before I talked about them. To be honest they were all surprisingly good, and I really hope I can pick up the full size of these soon.

vsco-photo-1-1.jpgScreen Shot 2016-05-22 at 12.40.30

This is an incredible mask, I have the full size of this product, and I did talk a lot about this in my mask blog post, so I won’t go on about this too much, but this is an incredible mask. If you’re feeling a bit spotty or if you’re looking for an acne mask that doesn’t dry up the skin, this literally tames the skin, while leaving it hydrated.

vsco-photo-1-2.jpgScreen Shot 2016-05-22 at 12.43.41

It is a really nice overnight mask, which is pretty thick in consistency. It honestly leaves my skin feeling nice and hydrated, but doesn’t feel like I have so much product on my skin, which I prefer at night. Plus, you really don’t need that much, because a little goes a long way. In terms of smell, it has a citrus smell to it, which it definitely  brings the spring vibes, but if you’re not into the scent, it doesn’t linger too much on the skin.

The product itself, is a cream based products, instead of a gel or a water-based product, which makes it a lot more richer on the skin. Overall, it’s a amazing overnight mask.

vsco-photo-2-1.jpgScreen Shot 2016-05-22 at 12.52.33

This is definitely a drying mask, so you do need to be aware of how long you put this on your skin for, unlike the ‘Out of trouble’ mask. This mask targets impurities in your skin, which makes it perfect for those days when your skin feels clogged up. Also, I felt like this also tamed those pesky spots on my skin, similar to the ‘Out of trouble’ mask, but this left my skin feeling super clean. One personal tip I would give is to use a heavy face cream after using this to replenish the skin.

For me personally I haven’t had a lot of mask which are super dark, so it’s kind of scary to put on. Haha, all jokes aside, it really is a good mask, but can be quite drying, so make sure you don’t put this mask on for too long.

vsco-photo-3-1.jpg

Screen Shot 2016-05-22 at 13.04.04

I’ve used this a couple of times, especially on those days when my skin is feeling a bit on the dull side or on the tired side. It really did rejuvenate my skin, without leaving it sticky. I usually use this in the morning and it works perfect for everyday use. To be honest, I don’t wipe this off, I sometimes use it as a replacement for a moisturiser. I personally love the scent of this it has a bit of an bitter orange scent, which again is perfect for the spring months. This product is a gel like product, so it absorbs into the skin really quickly, which makes it perfect in the morning, so you don’t have to wait for the product to absorb in the skin.

So, hopefully this review is helpful, I really want to pick up the full size of these after I’ve used up these smaller versions.

Etude House: Big Cover Concealers

vsco-photo-2.jpgRecently, Etude House released their Big Cover concealers, ranging from all different colours. I was so excited and curious to see how the pink, green and white would work on my skin. So, naturally I picked up basically all the colours they had.

Screen Shot 2016-05-21 at 14.05.46

vsco-photo-3.jpgI actually like the packaging it’s cute and resembles a pen of some sort, which makes it easy to travel with, plus you don’t have to worry about spillage, which tends to be the issue with liquid concealers from my personal experience.

In terms of the clicking to release the products, it has its ups and down. The upsides are that they reduce the amount of residue left and prevents it from spilling, but it can be difficult at times when the product doesn’t come out or you’re at the end point of this concealer.

Lastly, this product has a sponge applicator. Personally, I really like it, because it makes it really easy to apply, but there is the issue that sponge applicators tend to be less hygienic, especially if you are applying it on a spots,so normally I use my fingers and apply it on, so it’s not the biggest issue for me.

Screen Shot 2016-05-21 at 14.37.53

vsco-photo-1.jpgWhite: For highlighting

Green: Covers redness

Skin Colour: which comes in 3 different shades for concealing redness and spots

Peach Pink: Conceals uneven skin tone, used for dark and purpley undereyes

Overall, I think all of them work fantastically, they do conceal really well, but if you really need full coverage then I would suggest using something else. However, they are all so moisturising and are perfect for dry skin or for the winter months (which are long away). My favourite is the pink beige concealer, this does wonders on covering my undereyes, while still leaving it super hydrated and natural looking, which is really hard to find for a concealer. Although, amazingly enough that they came out with green, pink beige and white, the skin colour range is very limited, which makes it difficult to apply to every skin tone.

Yet, I would say definitely check them out they are well worth it, plus they aren’t too pricey and work really well at concealing. Hopefully, this was helpful in someways and I’ll talk to you soon.

Searching for Perfection

2016-05-20 03.06.28 2.jpg

This post is going to be a little bit of a different blog post. I have done a few of these before on the blog, sharing my perspectives and thoughts about events or feelings currently happening in my life. This one, I really wanted to write not only for whoever needs it but, to myself.

You probably have noticed that I haven’t been posting as regularly on this blog as I used to. I’ve been struggling these past few months with accepting the future and struggling to accept that I am not perfect. It sounds silly to use the ‘word’ perfect to describe someone especially myself, but to me it wasn’t, I liked to excel at everything and if I didn’t, I would work on it and if I couldn’t, I would be left disappointed in myself.

The word perfect, to me, isn’t something simple, but a source of anxiety for me. Personality wise, I like to be in control, I like to excel in everything that I do. Logical? Not really, pulling all-nighters didn’t work for me, my mind wouldn’t absorb anything and I was left exhausted, disappointed and upset.  It was a vicious cycle.

I realised these past few days, especially after my exams that sometimes although you can try, you can’t override physical and mental exhaustion. Instead of living in the moment I am constantly try to predict and prepare for the ‘future’, a future that is unpredictable and comparing myself to others.

So, to me in the past and probably the future “live in the moment and stop trying to reach ‘perfect’, you’ll exhaust yourself”.

Ok…. now that I have ranted a little bit. A heads up, there will be some new posts coming up on the blog that I am excited about so keep your eyes peeled!

The woman behind sheerbraidedbliss is crazy talented mother of four. Just when you thought mums couldn’t do anymore, they prove us wrong. Her hair designs are crazy amazing, a little bit more complicated but I feel that they are too amazing to not mention. If you are determined enough or need to do something while you procrastinate… give this a try.
