EMPTIES | Products I have used up

This month has been a month where I have been solely trying to finish up the products I already have or have had for a while.

2016-03-31 01.00.00 2.jpg

The first being the Lady Kin Vanpir cream and serum.

Texture: The cream is rich and creamy that is more idea for the winter months or when you feel your skin needs something a little more rich.

Benefits: The entire line contains ‘Dragon Blood Resin extract’  (from a plant) that has been said to be great for wrinkle care, brightening, because of its natural metabolic benefits.

How I use it:  I find that it is great for targeting dry areas that are in need of a little extra moisturisation. The cream can also be used as a sleeping mask because of how rich it is however, if you use it as a sleeping mask, it does have a slightly sticky feeling

Downsides: The pro and the con is with the ‘richness’ of the cream, it can be very good for dry skin and weather, it isn’t ideal for the warmer months as it can get quite sticky.

Second, the Lady Kin Vanpir Repair Youth Activator, the serum is probably the most adaptable product because I have been incorporating it in my everyday skincare routine.

Texture: The serum has a light texture that absorbs into the skin, leaving the skin supple and smooth.

Benefits:  The serum acts as a protective barrier to maintain the moisture level as it seals and smooths the skin.  It contains no parabens, synthetic material that can be used on sensitive skin.

How I use it: I like to use it under my daily moisturiser or mixed into my moisturiser.

Downsides: However, you do have to use quite a bit of this product and the last few drops were very difficult to get out of bottle.

White T – Whitening treatment toothpaste

I have been using this toothpaste for around a couple of months now and it has a light

Scent: It has a peppermint scent.

Benefits:  Whitens, brightens, removes stains on the teat as well as fights tartar, cavities & plaque.

Downsides: I didn’t find it very effective, however, I have yet to try any toothpastes that are as good as the crest whitening strips. Although the packaging does say that using it can cause tooth sensitivity, I didn’t find that it caused any discomfort.

Ramosu Hyaluronic 100 acid solution – skin moisturising

Texture: It has a very light texture almost water like which absorbs really well into skin through patting.

Benefits: I found that if you apply it as a toner the other essences, emulsions and moisturisers absorb better and it enhances their benefits.

Downsides:  Although the set comes with 3 ampoules you do have to use quite a lot at one time.

Bioderma Miscellar water (travel size)

Texture: It has a water like texture, does not have a scent and can be used all skin types.

Benefits: Works amazingly to remove makeup and to correct eyeliner. My favourite way of using it is dipping a a cotton wool bud in the solution and using it to erase any eyeliner mistakes.

Downsides: Bioderma has been known to be quite pricy amongst micellar waters and make up removers.

Easter Weekend Haul

Over the Easter weekend, I decided to explore Canterbury city centre to see if there were any special events or stalls for easter. However, I had another agenda in mind, I really wanted to pick up some tops, shops and a pair or shorts for my trip to Greece.

2016-03-27 00.53.15

My first stop was was hotel chocolat, I had been eyeing up their easter collection especially their easter toast. However, I decided to buy a caramel chocolate tiddly pot and carrot cake chocolates!

Next destination… Lush! Although I don’t often buy Lush products I had heard of some really great reviews on their coffee mask and there seems to be a general trend surrounding the benefits of using coffee on the skin.

2016-03-27 00.55.14

As I am writing this blog post I am actually wearing the mask, it definitely has a distinctive coffee scent which lingers as you wait for the mask to work. So far it is a great exfoliator and the coffee scent does wake you up a bit.

Final Stop, Primark. I think any UK student knows that Primark is a go to shop for supplies and cheap clothing. Although it was relatively busy and I ended up leaving with 6 items: Maui & Son’s coconut chips, slip ons, Quilt, PJ bottoms and some men’s t-shirts for myself (because why not).

My favourite product would have to be the quilt, its actually the background to these photos. First of all, the pattern is incredible, it is double sided and it is extremely well made. For me it came down to the fact that it was blue + had a floral design on it =take my money.  At £17 it really it was worth every penny.

Easter DIY: Easy Easter cupcakes

Although I might be a little late to the easter festivities, with the 4 day weekend, I’m sure there is time to make cupcakes right?

Without further ado, here are 4 easy easter cupcakes that you can do this easter without spending a lot of money.

Here are a f ew ideas of what you can do with these simple ingredients.

Screen Shot 2016-03-25 at 7.04.43 am.png

  Chocolate Decorations:

  1. Melt your white chocolate in a bowl over simmering water until melted.
  2. Split the melted chocolate into 3 different containers (orange, green and leave one white).                                              * found that using gel colours with water as an ingredient made the white chocolate seize and become fondant like which was unexpected but worked in my favour for moulding into eggs or even carrots.
  3. Using baking paper pipe or shape your carrots.
    1. For water based (my food colouring)- roll a ball and using scissors cut two lines to form three ‘leaves. Place them using your fingers (see image below).
    2. Oil based- Pipe your leaves
  4. (optional) using a black writing icing you can draw in the details.
  5. Put in the fridge to set.

Watercolour egg:

This egg shows that you can find a lot of ways to make decorations without the need for any special materials. Remember that ‘egg’ sleeping mask that I spoke about a few months back? I kept the packaging and washed it.

2016-03-24 23.14.10.jpg

  1. Drop a few drops of gel food colouring onto the packaging.
  2. Pour  the melted white chocolate onto the mould.
  3. Place in the fridge for a 5 minutes
  4. Push on the mould and pop the chocolate egg out. Avoid touching the “water-coloured” side of the egg.

To save this post for being too long, I didn’t write the how I made each individual cupcake but, if there is anything you want to know how to make please let me know and I will post it here 🙂

Happy Easter!

I’m going to Greece

If you haven’t read my past two blog posts you might not know what I will be traveling very soon and the place that I am going to is…. Santorini in Greece!

Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 3.07.52 am.png

I can’t believe that I will be going to Santorini, it is one of those places I have been dreaming of going ever since watching vloggers and the Sisterhood of the traveling pants.

Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 3.39.51 am.png

I have been scouring blogs and vlogs on an idea of what I should bring, what the weather would be like and things to do. Although it is all quite hectic I am really excited to be able to travel with close friend who is a lot more travel savvy than I 🙂

You’ll never guess where I am going…

If you saw my tumblr feels post just this morning I said that I was planning a trip these coming few weeks and I have! Even just saying that gives me butterflies in my stomach!

Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 3.26.26 am.png

In my post on the ‘86 most significant days of my life‘ I promised myself to do something more with these 86 days (now it is a lot less), to travel, to try my best and to make it memorable.  I decided to throw myself in the deep end and do something I have been wanting to do for a long time but feared.

This will be the first time I have travelled with friends to a place I have never been to but have always wished I could go see for myself. I must admit I was hesitant at first with the cost of going on vacation, how inexperienced I am and overcoming the excuses my mind was coming up with.

So where am I going? Hint is in the colour scheme ;p.

Still don’t know?  I’ve announced where I will be going on instagram so go and check it out!

Travel advice and tips would be much appreciated! I hope to write a lot more about my travel experience before and after my trip so watch this space! What would you like to see?

This month is going by relatively slowly for me, with so many assignments and my dissertation draft due, I feel as though I am keeping track of every hour of everyday making sure I didn’t miss anything. However, with some good news and stepping out of my comfort zone, I have booked something really exciting coming in the next few weeks!
